J CO. DANCE is The Loudoun School of Ballet’s pre-professional, contemporary performing dance company.
Dancers are invited into the company through an annual audition process. On acceptance, dancers are placed in their appropriate company level and will remain at that level for the performance season. Levels include FIRST and SECOND Company, APPRENTICE, and STARS.
Dancers accepted into J CO. DANCE, must display a high level of technique, versatility of style, and performance quality. They are required to train in multiple genres, including ballet. A mandatory week-long summer intensive is also required to participate.
Throughout the performance season, dancers are exposed to a variety of professional quality choreography, including Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, Musical Theater, Broadway Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, and Jazz Funk/Commercial Jazz. Dancers will perform in multiple concerts per season and participate in competitions, including NYCDA and WCDE.
J CO. Stars is our introductory and feeder company for J CO. Dance. This group is for ages 6-11. Students learn the fundamentals of a performing group and are given additional performance opportunities throughout the season.
